Breakfast Prayer

The gifts of the earth

present this early morning

on the breakfast plate

whole grain oats, honey and walnuts

pineapple, blueberries, strawberries

all the ripe fruits

slivered almonds, macadamia nuts

fresh ground coffee straight

from a French press

sprinkled with cardamom and cinnamon

The gifts of the earth present on my plate

For which, O Lord, I am grateful
