Answer to a Standard Question

“Do you rent or own?”

The question is more complicated

than it first seems

‘I want to own the house forever,’ she said,

then acknowledged, regrettably,

her time was limited.

Even those who think they own

are here but for a short term,

simply permitted to live a brief while

on this terrestrial home.

We all rent.
