Life Expectancy

Welcome to the World, Little One!

You’re in a bit of shock for now

But you’ll be held, fed, loved

Snuggled, carressed and you’ll

Bring joy to the hearts of all who love.

It is no easy road, Little One!

Learning to move and

Crawl and walk and talk.

But you’ll do all that and more and you’ll

Bring joy to the hearts of all who love.

You’ll learn so much, Little One!

Yet know so little all your life.

You’ll want your independence, freedom

Only to find that they, too, are hard, but still you’ll

Bring joy to the hearts of all who love.

You may one day welcome to the World

One of your own little ones!

And your heart will expand and grow

and you’ll want the best for him or her and you’ll try to

Bring joy to the hearts of all who love

And then, one day, you’ll realize you will die

And it will come as a surprise

Because something tells you this in not all

And you’ll wonder why it has to be so

And the answer here is you’ll never really know.
