Interruptions
Disrupted by a world war,
He made a near death experience
Become a promise to another soldier,
Neither expecting to fulfill the vow.
But both were willing and,
As it turned out,
She was a difficult chore.
He never let on though,
Deciding then that interruption’s march
Where life is lived.
At fourteen or so, Mary woke this day,
As any other day, with her own dreams
Of what her life would be, until
The angel of disruption appeared and
Interrupted her youthful fantasies.
I set out to write this weekend
From the comfort of my formerly
Well-heated holiday home, but Storm Eowyn
Had other ideas, and two days later,
I sit in The Villa,
Disrupting others’ routines.
Here I write
Here I think
This is what life is all about.
